Completed!

Raleigh Coffee Company had an awesome triathlon team for the Ironman Raleigh 70.3 event on June 2, 2013!

We assembled 20 athletes from around the United States to participate as team members for the Ironman Raleigh 70.3. That’s right we made up almost 1% of all 2,250 participants in the entire race.

That might not sound like much, but that really isn’t the whole story. Our goal, aside from the race itself was for our 20 teammates to make an epic impression on the Raleigh community long after we crossed the finish line.

When we launched Raleigh Coffee Company we wanted our impact to go beyond providing a great source of caffeine. We wanted to make an impact in our community and the world as well.

We decided to create “Bean Projects” to accomplish that goal. Our Bean Projects are created to raise money for a specific charitable need locally, nationally, and globally. This isn’t money that goes into a black hole, this is money that is put directly to use on the specific project we have selected.

Many on our team were brand new to the multi-sport community and some of us were brand new to endurance racing in general. We had such a fun time training that we want everyone to have this experience, especially KIDS!

As a team we raised over $10,000 through the Alexander YMCA, right here in Raleigh, to provide scholarships for kids to attend a summer camp including a multi-sport activity and event. Over 55 kids from the Triangle were able to attend summer camp through this donation.

That is INCREDIBLE! We did not do this all by ourselves. Each of the 20 team members helped raise over $10,000 through our personal networks, families, friends, and co-workers.

Corporate donors included:

PNC Bank

Food City

Johnson Memorial Hospital

Southern Table Provisions

Thank you to all of our donors.

Clean Water Well & Sustainability.

Active.

For this Bean Project we are teaming up with Uganda Village Project (UVP) to help fund a clean water well in one of their rural communities in southeast Uganda. UVP has been operating since 2003 to promote health and sustainable development with the Iganga people in this marginalized district. They also envision a future in which all Ugandan communities will have the means to effectively create and implement their own health and development solutions.

Completed! 10 Songs 10 Days

Completed!

10 Songs 10 Days (10N10) is a creative music project lead by singer/songwriter Matt Thien. 10N10 started 5 years ago on the soils of Africa. Here, the first of many 10N10 projects was born. Now, Matt is in the midst of the second 10N10 project and has teamed up with Christ House in Washington DC. This music project created and recorded 10 songs inspired by the stories of the individuals who are the community of Christ House. Matt’s outlook on his 10N10 projects is solely about giving back. These music benefits and projects are created to raise more awareness to the organizations he teams with- an idea similar to our Bean Projects model.

Raleigh Coffee Company was excited to partner and support Matt with this music journey and wanted to help him to bring more awareness to Christ House through his music and believe in this full circle initiative to give back by using the tool of a marketable product. We traveled to Washington DC and Nashville to support Matt during his recording at Andy Hunt’s studio and was able to fund one of his 10 songs through his sponsorship program.

We thank everyone who purchased coffee during the months of December ’12 and January ’13 which helped us to partially fund this great project. Matt’s current music can be found on YouTube and iTunes.

Completed! Love Wins

Completed! Love Wins

Completed!

This Bean Project was with Love Wins Ministries in Raleigh, NC. Love Wins is located in the downtown area of Raleigh where they have an old house renovated as a community center. This organization has its doors open to the homeless community in Raleigh and offers them a warm, dry, or cool place to congregate. They offer coffee, doughnuts, washing machines, computers, books, telephones, and a worship center are all available for this community.

After being introduced to them through Raleigh Coffee Club and supplying coffee to them a few times, we felt great synergy over the idea of teaming up with them for a Valentines Day specific project. Not only was this a Bean Project which they were funded by a portion of proceeds from coffee sales, we also decided to design a custom bag and run a limited release of this coffee and coffee bag.

We printed 100 bags, filled them with 1 pound of coffee, and $5 from each bag purchase funded Love Wins. We were able to raise $500 for this organization by Valentines Day. That was enough resource to fund one individual escaping homelessness to begin their new life under a roof.

Thanks to all who participated in this special Bean Project. We shipped coffee all over the nation. From Washington, California, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Ohio, and Massachusetts.

We look forward to continuing our relationship growth with Love Wins through coffee!
